Sole proprietor - Egistration

(Querist) 22 October 2009 This query is : Resolved
Since in case of a sole proprietorship, no documents / paper work is required except for certain registration of trade licence etc.

Kindly let me know whether a sole proprietorship can be run only in the name of the sole proprietor or we can have some other name like Pyramid education.

Also, please let me know, in what cases the trade licence is required and from where the same can be obtained ?

Thanks

Where are you located Poonam, trade license can be obtained from local municipal authorities. However, in my opinion there is no requirement to obtain a trade license for an educational institution.

You can give any name to your sole proprietorship.

You can run your firm in any name )except banned.

So far as Registration under Shops and Commercial Establishment Act is concerned, it can be made with the Registrar of Firms and Societies in some states and in other states like Haryana, it is vested with Labour-cum-Conciliation Officer. No hard and fast formalities are involved in this process. License is provided as per trade of your firm by the concerned offices.
