Spelling mistake in Birth certificate

Guest (Querist) 30 March 2015 This query is : Resolved
Sir, my son is 1 yr old. In his birthcertificate the name is DHANANJAI. We wish to change the last letter by 'y' DHANANJAY. It was my mistake by wrongly filling the application given by the hospital authorities at the time of birth. Can we change this?

You can apply to the Municipal Authority to correct the spelling of the name.

Contact the Municipal Authority, they may have a specific format for this purpose. You will have to enclose the copy of original birth certificate and certificate from hospital authorities and you may have to surrender the original while received the modified original.

Contact the registrar of births office, submit an affidavit and get it changed.

Dear Praveen,

First of all go to the Hospital, where your son was born and file an application enclosing an affidavit and a proof of document showing the correct name with spelling. Thereafter, the Hospital Authorities are going to send an intimation to the Municipal Authorities, where you can get a Birth Certificate with correct name with spelling.
