Stay and Injunction?

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 10 June 2010 This query is : Resolved
Can anyone give difference between STAY order and Order of Injunction?
adv. rajeev ( rajoo ) (Expert) 11 June 2010
stay means stay of proceedings of the case. Injunction order means restrain some one from doing or carrying any work.

can you say with some illustrations?

Stay order is addressed to a lower court or authority whereas injunction is passed against a party.

You are asking abt Stay & Injunction. My learned frnds have explained it well.

But i would like to ad one thing that a layman uses a word 'stay' for telling -that the court has given stay on this property- but they are talking abt injunction.

Means for a layman stay & injunctions are snyonams not different.

Rightly said by Mr. Ashok Yadav.
