Termination letters can be sent to employee via registered post or courier?

(Querist) 19 April 2013 This query is : Resolved
Hi Experts,

Need an urgent clarification on the termination letters which are sent by the HR department to the absconding employees. We are sending it via courier where we ensure to collect the POD copy as acknowledgement? Should we send via register post? does this have any legal impact? pLease advise.

Regards
Stella

Dear Stella

It is unlikely to have any significant legal impact
Unless those absconding employees have committed any fraud or misappropriation at the cost of Company for which Register AD or Register Post will be required to further the matter legally

It shall be better to send the letter through registered post so that the official report of acceptance or denial may prima-facie be taken into consideration as an evidence.

Yes.You have to send the Termination Letter through Registered Post with A.D. as the acknowledgement thereof is a irrefutable evidence in case of any litigation.
