We have sold a Diesel engine to an unregistered customer in Uttar Pradesh for his personal consumption. He is unregistered with sales tax.. and we will be charging full CST since the sale is from Maharashtra to UP.. Is a road permit required for the transportation into UP.

Road tax is payable by supplier and not by last customer.

I think things are not yet cleared.
firstly
Transport vehicles,which are registered for public uses when operated outside the registered state are asked to buy these permits to enable movement in the state into which they got these permits can be obtained at the Regional transport offices as well as as the border checkposts of the regional transport offices.For easier and faster movements of goods across the boundaries of states.
and whether it comes to sales tax than the person is subjected to entry tax at the time of entering the state.
