R/sir, i had a query that whether Advocate is liable to pay professional tax or not.

An Advocate is not exempted from Professional Tax.

Tax on Trade, Calling and Profession is enacted by the States, so please specify the State you are concerned with. In Tamil Nadu, Advocates are not exempt.

In Karnataka, advocates are exempted from professional tax for ten years from the date of their enrolment. Check up the law in your state.

In Maharashtra state advocates are exempted for first five years from enrolment with Bar Council.
