what were reasons for dishonour? did you have sufficent balance in your account? what was loss suffered by you on account of dishonour?
Dr Siva (Querist) 12 June 2012
Sir,
I gave 12 PDCs of ICICI Bank to Tanishq. They were depositing the cheques and were getting paid. But in one month, a cheque was returned with a slip" Insufficient funds".

When I visited the shop with some of my respectable relatives like inlaw, they told that I should pay the amount in cash as one of my cheques was bounced for want of funds. I felt embarassed and humuliated, when the cheque of Rs 2000 was bounced for want of funds.
When I sent e mail to ICICI bank, they said that "as per their records the cheque was not used by me".
But I have the usedand bounced chequ with bank seals and also a slip issued by the bank saying" Insufficient funds".
I think I have a fit case. Iam a Chief Manager (Finance) in a major Public Sector Company withreputation.
Hope I have given details reqd.

file a consumer case against the bank. Wrong ful dishonour comes under consumer protection a
R Trivedi (Expert) 13 June 2012
Personally speaking, you are well off and you must bring the case to logical conclusion. The bank is question although very big but does not hold or command corporate respectability, main reason is substantial high ended and casual approach of the staffs.

One more thing, never give, any related Bank Account number to ICICI Bank, they will debit your other outstandings with this account, without your information, which is a criminal offense. No bank can debit its customer's account without information.

Moreover for this dishonor, ICICI Bank would have debited certain money like Rs. 150 or so from your account, you need to get it back with substantial compensation. Go ahead with the case, if you have resources.

The act of bank was definitely comes under the purview of providing deficit services to you also from such act of bank you got mental harassment so file a complaint agaist bank in consumer forum and claim compensation.
