Is it possible?

Husband mentions his income for filling in ration card application in 2005. Is it possible to make a request to have access to the application by the wife so that she gets to know his husband's income during that period. In fact,  wife  had filled in the application and submitted it at the office but she does not have photo copy if it, albeit she does remember the income that was written there.

Xe-rox copy of the ration card is with the wife, with the help of that can she request to have access to original application for the ration card wherein income is recorded.

Thanks in advance. ..

You may   ask copy of that application under RTI

How the income figure pertained to 2005 would be helpful to any one in 2010.

Every department has got its own rules regarding that how many years they have to keep the records in tact and after how many years the cAN destroy its record.  The period varies depending upon the nature of the document.  You ask the ration department that they have got original application or not.  If it is there, you can seek it by RTI.  Or you can summon that document through court procedure.  In the event of your failure to obtain that by any of the above procedures, then you file the photo copy in the court record and get that document marked (not allowed to be proved as exhibit).  It is matrimonial dispute, even the marked document has got its relevance, especially when the original document was destroyed as per rules.
