Rejoinder is the statement in legal and logical form stating something on behalf of a party to a legal proceeding and is  made by the defendant in response to the plaintiff's replication. Whereas Affidavit of opposition is an affidavit  is made in opposition and this is allowed in the preliminary examination .

Any additional pleadings that are made to previously filed pleadings is called rejoinder  i.e. RE- JOIN.

The reply filed by otherside/respondent to an application filed by petitioner by way of affidavit is counter affidavit.
