dear manish,
Let me specify that though the definition of industry is cited by you, a landmark judgement of Bangalore Water supply swereage board, has laid down the principles that govern the test of an industry under Industrial disputes act, and they are as under :
1.Systematic acitivty
2. Performed in cooperation with employees
3 To satisfy public demands
This has taken in its sweep large chunk of activity carried out which satisfy these 3 tests to be an industry.
