Importance of argument

Respected Members... Can you please elaborate it...??? If all the evidences are there on the record then what is the importance of argument...? Because whenever the judgement need to pass will be based on documents on record and argument will be the oral one then still it is necessary coz my senior said me it is not important one..thats why, I want to know... Thanks in advance...!!!
