well largely, the landlords are afraid of tenants but in your case the things are on the other side.
definitely the police needs some evidence to proceed with the inquiry and it depends upon you how to preserve evidence for the desired purpose.
merely a long stay of 70 years wont make you owner of the property, the tenant remains a tenant. Better compromise the matter with the landlord or face eviction as per court orders at later stage.

Thanks for your reply, from your reply it feels you are the lawyer of my landlord, anyhow, I was looking for professional advice not moral gyaan on this forum.
I am also not saying that I have became the owner, the only point is is when the legal proceedings are on ,how can they do a contempt of court..How to save myself and my ailing mother from this torture.
Hope you will look this matter from a human prespective as well and give an unbiased reply.
