If a mediclaim is rejected on the ground that the doctor who treated was a BAMS, what is the remedy?

Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery is degree recognised by Government of India and equivalent to degree MBBS so rejection of mediclaim on ground of BAMS amounts to deficiency in services and unfair trade practice of Insurance company.File complaint before District Consumer Forum and claim complete expenses of treatment and compensation towards mental and physical agony.

First, check the policy of the insurance company which declined your mediclaim, as there are a lot of govt. institutions/departments which do not recognize ayurvedic treatment. If it was already mentioned in their terms and conditions/ previously formulated to you clearly, you may not be able to do anything. However, if their policy mentions nothing beforehand, you can file a case in the consumer forum of your district.

No definite suggestion is possible unless the policy is seen and terms and conditions examined.

Relate with policy shedule, T&C in it.
