Rights of senior citizen as an accused

Hi, What are the rights of an infirm (sufferring from long illness) senior citizen accused in criminal case?  We have applied for permanent exemption, but it is pending for last 2 months. Opposite party has now brought in their own lawyer to the court on not granting the exemption.

Exemption from personal appearance in court in criminal complaint cases is usually allowed date to date basis, no blanket exemption on all dates allowed by the trail court. Even for senior immobilized accused person the exemption from personal appearance on the particular date is applied by the counsel and medical certificate attached with the application.
