Road accident

Dear Legal Experts,

A few days back I was teaching my wife car driving. I have a valid driving license and my wife has a valid learners license. The car has big 'L' signs on both front and back sides. There was an accident and a person died.

Both of us were booked under Sector 304A and the case is yet to come up for hearing. Can you please let me know the worst that I can expect and how to approach this case.

We have given the family of the deceased Rs.2 lacs which I am sure is in no way a compensation to their loss. however I too have a 3 year old daughter and a non working wife as dependents.

I do not want to go to jail ! Please advice.

Thanks,

Ravi

The accident occured in Chennai. The deceased was around 50-55 years old. Upon enquiry, we learnt that he was a mason. His family representatives have accepted Rs.2 lacs and also accepted to claim third party insurance.
