I am shifting my dance studio to a basement in a residential area (Sector 31, Gurgaon) and am planning to get the lease registered. The lease terms have been agreed upon and it will be for 2 years. The rent is Rs. 20,000/month this year and will increase by 10% next year. Now there is a lot of confusion about the stamp duty which needs to be paid - is it calculated on the AVERAGE annual rent or TOTAL rent of the tenure? A lot of people are giving us different advices so I would appreciate some solid facts. Also, what would be the registration fees?
