when you file with all the relevant documents on the same day they will give you a SR no and if any document is not properly filed then they will return and after filing the proper document they will sent it to the bench and after both parties personal appearance the court will pass your case file to concerend section there it will be numbered so check with your lawyer wheater he had filed the case or not and if he had filed then check with him the SR no and even with SR no and party name you can check int he website

There is no time period specified unde law for the same and you can directly inquire in to the court department by stating parties name of proceeding.
