Industrial co-operative society

(Querist) 25 April 2013 This query is : Resolved
Hi,
We have a gala in a Industrial Estate in Mumbai.

The galas have a common water connection.

However we store water to purify it for drinking purpose.

The society is not spending on Purification amenities.

Can the society cut of the connection between our storage and the common line.

This connection is not a permanent one and just plastic pipes to fetch water thrice a week.

The society does now give permission to use water connection to the galas.

However can they deny drinking water connection.

Can they cut this water connection, we have heard it's a criminal offense to cut water supply.

Thanks
Ram Kumar

1. Indeed it would be a criminal offence to disconnect Water-Supply used for Drinking purposes only. Mass storage of drinking-water is illegal and against the civic body rules.

2. In Industrial / Commercial Societies, commercial water rates apply and the supply conditions are totally different. Separate take-done water-meters are installed for each such gala, for billing purposes.

Keep Smiling .... Hemant Agarwal

Hi Hemant,
Thanks a ton for your helpful reply and Thanks Raj Kumar Makkad for seconding this.

There was a typo on our query,

"The society does now give permission to use water connection to the galas."

The word is NOT give permission and not now give permission, so the correct statement is :

"The society does not give permission to use water connection to the galas."

Hopefully your reply will remain the same after considering the above.

Best Regards
