Lok Adalat Notice

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 14 December 2010 This query is : Resolved
Hi,

I have received a lok adalat notice from HSBC bank asking me to pay the amount due on my credit.
Actually I had closed this card somewhere in 2008 as the bank had offered my reduced amount in 2 EMIs.
Now when I called the bank representative he is asking me to produce the receipts which I have lost.
Please advice what should I do now. The amount they are asking is Rs. 70000.

Regards

Appear before the Lok Adlath and require the Bank to produce the bank Statement of Account to confirm the amounts paid by you and closure of the account as informed to you

Lok Adalat can not force you to make settlement unless you agree on your own terms. So appear before it and express your willingness to settle if the bank agrees on the amount you think you owe to it.
