MEMBERS KINLDY SUGGEST: OUR IS EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE PROVIDING TECHNICAL EDUCATION. THE SAID INSTITUTE IS REGISTERED UNDER BOMBAY PUBLIC TRUST ACT AND IS AFFILIATED TO UNIVERTY. MY QUERY IS WHETHER PAYMENT OF WAGES ACT IS APPLICABLE TO THE CASUAL WORKERS WORKING IN OUR INSTITUTE

Casual workers means exactly which type of workers. have they been employed under probation or mere daily wages workers??

the casual workers are working as a gardener on a daily wage basis

Wages averaging less than Rs. 6500.00 per month only are covered or protected by the Payment of Wages Act, 1936 with effect from 11th September 2005. {Section 1(6)}

First of all see whether the educational institution are notified as Establishment in your State under the Payment of Wages Act. Secondly the wages limit now has been extent from Rs. 6500/- P.M. to Rs. 10,000/- P.M.
