please expalin about this. how can it give relief to a wife ????

PWDVA stands Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act.

It comes under the purview of civil law and it aims to protect the interests of women, esp. those who are victims of domestic violence. It can provide a 'battered wife' enough relief in the form of protection order, residence order, custody order, compensation order, monetary and medical relief, etc.

Such orders are passed by the Learned Magistrate duly empowered under the law.
