witness a deed

My query is : A lawyer who has prepared a sale deed for third party and signed as Advocate, and again he signed in the same deed as one of the witness. Is this legal ? Can anybody sign twice in a same deed ?

What duel role? If he is not a party he can sign as a scribe and if he is not he will sign as a party.

(i) He wrote the deed. He signed as deed writer


(ii) deed was expected before him. He signed as witness.
