Partition of plot

Hi,
In Tamilnadu there is a practice that if a land/plot is partitioned the younger heir gets the southern or eastern part and vise verse. Is there any ruling or law regulating this practice?

If there is any such custom, you can claim the same a customary right. You have to prove that there exists a custom in the society since long.

No law provides for the same. If it is a practice followed from time immemmorial, then it will be considered as a customary law.
