Illegal water connection

Hi Sir/Madam,
In my housing society the road facing shops had not been given water connections according to original plan submitted to Pune Municipal Corporation. But one of the shops has taken a pipe and a tap inside of the shop - which is not authorized by the society or the corporation. Please advise what action can be taken against the shop. The society has served the shop owner many notices but nothing has been done till now. In view of the recent water cuts announced by the PMC, the residents of the building are facing water shortage whereas still the shop continues to utilize the water illegaly.

you can make complaint at coprn commissioner or mayor, or collector, or zonal office. they will take care

Do he pay society water charges??
Or he pay it directly to Municipal corporation??
OR HE USE WATER FREE??
IS WATER CHARGES AT RESIDENTIAL RATE OR COMMERCIAL RATE??
Answer to above Questions have it's Answer.
If illegal, cut it off on your own, as Municipal corp may not be a party to it.
Let him complaint.

You all society members cut the illegal line coming to the shop of such thief of your water and if he still insists file a police complaint against him.
Municipality can also take action but why to wait for a lengthy procedure if you all are united.

The society chairman and secretary are somewhat scared to take any action against him, so can I as a member directly close his illegal connection or do i need authorization from society chairman and secretary (which they are scared to sign!) ?

you can proceed only when authorized by the society.If society is reluctant then you need to file complaint against society it self before the registrar or can ask the society to call AGM for resolution over this agenda and your authorization.In case you do it nothing is going to happen against you but you should not break the system.

Thanks for your replies again.
Shroff Sir : I have suggested to society to check the corporation tax reciept of the shop, a meeting of committee members is going to happen tomorrow 6th March regarding the same. He pays the corporation taxes directly to Pune Municipal Corp. But I do not know if he pays the water tax and at what rate. I will post again once I have these details. Thank you very much.
Prabhakar Sir: Thanks a lot, I will inform society about the same and hope they are mobilised to take some action.
