Permanent alimony and maintenance granted to wife in lump sum as final settlement amount for divorce and withdrawal of all other cases both criminal and civil, is not taxable income and she gets exempt from any taxable liabilities.
Money can be taken in the form of bank draft in her name and deposited in her bank account.
As the minor child maintenance is also included as full and final settlement this too will not be taxable income.
Child can claim share in the property of his father if the father died intestate without making a Will. However after the divorce the wife looses her right to claim any property of the husband after his death who doesn't remain her husband any more after their divorce.

It is taxable. There is no provision in the Income Tax Act, for exemption.
