Mediation

Q)during mediation in supreme court of india
mediator ask me how much alimony can i afford to pay. what does it means? does my wife is ready to go for mutual consent divorce?
Anirudh (Expert) 23 February 2013
It does not mean anything, except trying to know from you how much alimony you would be willing to pay.

After ascertaining your convenience, probably the mediation cell would like to broach the proposal with your wife whether she would be ready to accept such an alimony and agree for divorce.

Please take it, that the question by the mediator is only to know your ability / willingness, without any commitment so far from your wife's side.

Only fail report or the outcome of the conciliation is intimated and not more than that.
