want delay in government job joining

Sir
I have been selected as assistant in ministry of defence Through SSC cgl exam. My joining is expected to come on last june 2015.
But i m seriously appearing in UPSC IAS exam this year. Which is scheduled pre in august and mains in december. So i want an extention of approx 6 months. I talked to many person already in defence, they told me u must have good reason for extention some other told u shud delay ur police verification so u will get extra time and some told me donot reply any offer letter they send it tow three times and this takes 6 months
I have two questions
1. How to get police verification delayed. For howmuch time (i mean 15 days /2 months/ 4 months howmuch) can it be dealyed???
2. What r strong reason to get an extention???
(one more point while answering the query please consider this point also that
I can leave job but can not join before last december)

somebody giving wrong guidance to you..
just get your appointment. but you can take leave or permission on loss of pay.
no assurance that you will get offer letter twice or thrice..
if it is duly served once mean they can drop your name from appointment procedures. you can not challenge it.

Dear Amit Singh,
Although your problem has no relevance on the legal aspect, yet in your interest of career development, I am replying your query.
You should not forget about probability of 50:50 in both the cases. Lack of confidence is imminent from not taking the risk of leaving the chance of SSC selection and want extension of time, as you seem to be not sure whether you will clear the IAS exam or not.
Contrarily, on account of such type of your perplexity it would be hard for you to concentrate well on preparation for the IAS exams.
So, the probability of winning and losing, both are there for you. You have the need to make a firm decision, whether you want to compete the IAS or do not want to lose chance of service on selection by SSC.
However, reply to your queries are as under:
1) There is no possibility of delaying police verification unless they have their own oriorities on some other very critical issues to attend first.
2) Extension of time for joining is at the sole discretion of the ministry of defence that too subject to the urgency to fulfill the vacant posts and fixed schedule for induction training for the new enterants. No strong reason on the part of the candidate is likely to work.
I have already replied your supplementary question about leaving the job. That depends upon the consideration in which line you want to dvelop your career, but all depends upon your strong passion and self confidence.

I tend to fully aagree with Mr DHingra and will add as under
you are SSC selectee. closure of offer is no so easy as deptt cannot go for supplementary list for one vacancy.
Getting extension may be bit easier than getting long leave immediately on joining. Reasons I do not wish tot display on open thread.
