A legal heir certificate is issued by the government for those individuals whose parent/husband is dead without leaving a will. Legal Heir certificates are issued by the tahsildar of the district to recognize the actual deceased person living heirs and the succession certificates are issued by the court to the deceased person legal heirs. There's a difference between legal heir certificate and succession certificate as a legal heir certificate is issued to identify the living heirs of a deceased person whereas succession certificate is issued to establish the legitimacy of the heirs and give them the power to inherit shares, securities, debts, and other assets that the deceased person may have left behind.
