Definition of workmen

Is there change in the definition of workmen under any of the labour laws recently. Also I request for latest modification in eligibility criteria, as in the case of bonus act, where the eligibility has been modified from Rs.3500/- to Rs.10000/-

WORKMAN. One who labors, one who is employed to do business for another.
2. The obligations of a workman are to perform the work he has undertaken to do; to do it in proper time; to do it well to employ the things furnished him according to his contract.
3. His rights, are to be paid what his work is worth, or what it deserves; to have all the facilities which the employer can give him for doing his work.

There is no change in the definition of workman under labour laws except the one in Workmen's Compensation Act in the past when casual employee is also considered a workman under the act.
( Dear Mr. Aravinthan Ganesan: In labour laws there is a definition of workman. Every employee is not a workman under many labour legislations. In Industrial Dispute Act an Accounts Manager can be a workman while a salesman in the same concern may not be a workman)

Well said by Mr Harbhajan.
"Employee" is a general reference to anyone employed as provided in different act and outside of the act has no particular significance beyond that. "Workman" is defined under the Industrial Disputes Act and specific import for labour legislation.
