Police intimidation

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 13 September 2011 This query is : Resolved
I have been slapped with false 498a and i have got anticipatory bail from high court. Police are now calling me for investigation and says that I should agree for divorce and give 20 lakhs to my wife or else they would implicate my parents and other relatives in charge sheet and all have to go to court . They say they would make the case so strong that I have to succumb at the end . I am really scared but dont want to meekly surrender to their pressure tactics.. what should i do legally and ethically to save myself ??

how long will it take for police to file the chargesheet ?Do I need to worry that they might get me to prison anytime soon for some other case ??? Please help me.

If you have managed to get an anticipatory bail from the HC it is clear that there has been no case filed against you so far because a case under 498a if filed is a non-bailable and cognizable offence.

To come out from the rigor of law you shall have to take immediate actions against the police and the complainants.

the police cannot dictate terms of settlement between husband and wife . however if you desire divorce too then it is better to get divorced by mutual consent .
what are the allegations made in complaint against your parents and other relatives?
you should go by your lawyers advice but in my opinion you should not succumb to black mail tactics .
you have stated that case filed by your wife is false . do you have any evidence to substaniate your statement . gather evidence that allegations made are false .if you ahve not done anything wrong there is no question of you going to jail in some other false case

Though you may prove your innocence, that will take time and there is not much time left because once the police files a case under 498A, they can arrest you despite having an anticipatory bail obtained before the case is filed. Hence the delay will cause legal injuries and your defence will be weaker. Therefore, you shall have to take legal protection from your state High Court under constitutional law for immediate relief before a chargesheet is framed by the police. This space is too limited to give detailed advice hence I have given my mobile number earlier to elaborate the strategy further.

I have substantial evidence to prove that the dowry harassment FIR is false. I have got the bail from high court after the FIR was filed in the police station by my wife.. now my wife and her mother wants compromise and they are working with the police to intimidate and
arrive at the formula..
