Company not Issuing me the releiving letter

Hello,

I need your advice, I was working in a MNC than I resigned & sent official resignation mail from company id on 5th Jan 2010 to my immidiate Manager & clearly written that my last working day will be 10th Jan 2010 & handed over my all assets provoded by company Post my resignation I handed over all of my responsibilities. Though was not on a single client before leaving this position I did the best that I could do before leaving.

My manager had a verbal communication with me and accepted my resignation. But now company has not sent me full & final settlement and no releiving or experience letter, I have joined the new company on the basis of my resignation letter as we get the releiving after 45 days, so it will be dual employment for me ?

I spoke to my previous company HR as well as send them emails and asked if i can pay the amount in liue to my 1 month notice (as this is mentioned in my appoinment letter that either party can or pay 1 month salary in lieu) they said its total Manager decision, And the manager is not ready to releive now, I cannot go back and join and serve the notice as its not possible.

Please tell me how I can take this further so that they give me reliving letter.
