Credit Card Collection

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 18 April 2011 This query is : Resolved
Hi,

I have started getting collection calls for a 10 year old credit card. I dont want to pay this because some of the charges were disputed and i had a long arguements at the time i stopped paying.
Now some guys are calling me from some legal company and telling me that there is a case against me and i need to visit the court. So far i have declined to accept the calls.

What are the options.

Thanks

ignore the calls. If there is any case is filed in the court, you will receive the court summons. After receipt of the court summons you think about that. Just ignore the calls.

Hi Rajeev,

I wanted to ask, isn't there any statute of limitation in India. I mean the debt is more than 10yrs old now. Also, i dont think they will send any legal summons because they do not have my current address, but the calls can be really disturbing. If this continues i will have to change my number which i dont want.
The original card limit was 20 thousand and i did not pay that because they were not ready to remove 11 thousand of unknown charge. Now they say that the due is over 1 lac which i certainly do not want to pay.

I can ignore the calls, but i get intimidated by their threats. What can they do is my question.
