If you alone want to run it then it does not need any registration. However of you wish to induct partner then get a deed pf partnership executed and registered.

Dear Sangeetha,
You have to be very clear as to what you want. Whether you want to run a Law Office or Law Firm?
Law Office can be run by a single lawyer.
However, the term FIRM is related to a partnership. Therefore, to establish a law firm, first you should have a partner.
Though there is no compulsion that a Partnership Firm should be registered, there are legal consequences in case the Firm is not registered. For instance, in case the Firm is not Registered then
(i) the partners in the unregistered Firm cannot sue to enforce a right arising from the partnership agreement; (ii) cannot sue any third party.
Therefore, you plan to get the partnership firm registered, then you have to take the following steps:
Please approach the Registrar of Firms in your area. Normally, the SDM will be the Registrar of Firms.
Ascertain from the Registrar of Firms as to the value of the Stamp paper on which the Partnership Deed has to be got prepared. (Pl. note that the stamp paper value differs from State to State. Therefore you have to approach the Registrar of Firms for this purpose.)
After getting the Partnership Deed executed on the stamp paper, you have to get it notorised. Then approach the Registrar of Firms (not Sub-Registrar office) for registration. After registration, the Registrar of Firms will issue you ANNEXURE-A showing the particulars of Registration. This you should preserve and keep. In case of any change in the constitution or change in the address of the Firm, you have to get it modified by approaching the Registrar of Firms.
